I tend to wear more lip gloss in the cooler months than I do lipstick, simply because gloss can give me some extra hydration versus a lipstick that may dry them out. Burke Williams, a day spa with 9 locations across northern and southern California, has a fantastic spa gloss that is part of their H2V Skin Care line.
Art+Science=Beauty. This is the philosophy behind Burke Williams innovative H2V Skin Care line. By combining botanical and herbal ingredients with tested and proven scientific ingredients, a team of experienced estheticians, scientists and top industry professionals have created an effective and results-oriented line of products designed to repair and enhance skin, bringing natural beauty to the surface.
The H2V Spa Gloss ($19.50) comes in 3 colors: Classic (clear), Primp (purple) and Pamper (pink.) Each gloss enhances the lips with natural pigment without added tint.
I was sent Classic and Primp to try out and I did find them to be different than most lip glosses I wear. First, the gloss isn’t tacky or thick. It has a thin texture, yet you can feel that it coats your lips. I also found that it doesn’t “slide” into your mouth and tends to stay put exactly where you applied it. Most glosses will have flavor for this reason, but the H2V Spa Gloss doesn’t have a flavor, and in fact, the scent is that of perfume. Definitely not the typical fruit, vanilla or peppermint most glosses have. The slight perfume fragrance does play that psychological mind game on you to position this gloss as upscale.
Classic (clear) will look great on anyone; while the Primp (purple) may be more suited for olive and darker skin tones. For my very fair skin, it was a bit too dark. It’s not a heavy purple, but it just didn’t complement my undertones. And as you can see, the way it applies to the skin is not as dark as it appears in the tube.
H2V Spa Gloss can be found at any Burke Williams Day Spa.
